Kris Koonar asked:

Charlotte Mason was a great intellectual who had an extremely elevated opinion about children. Nobody can yet assimilate Charlotte Masons thoughts, techniques and values into a concrete nutshell. Miss Masons thoughts were so extensive and in-depth; it required six huge volumes to include all her inscriptions on the subject matter of education only. Speaking of which, there is an extremely to the point general idea of a handful of Charlotte Masons most well-known thoughts.

The Charlotte Mason Method of Teaching: Miss Charlotte Mason came up with ideas like Twaddle, Living books, Whole books, Narration, Short lessons, Keeping a Journal, Copy work, Dictation as different methods of teaching.

The Twaddle Idea: Parents and teachers in the present day might call Twaddle, literature that is basically is like giving portions of academic happy meals to your children. This technique is applied to the strong, important intellect and also caters to the structuring provisions. Charlotte Mason basically promoted Staying Away From Twaddle and stuffing the child spirit and intelligence with the finest literary facilities accessible.

The Living books Idea: Living books are definitely the reverse of boring textbooks that are monotonous. The characters, locations and incidents described come to life and are very interesting and exciting as you read a living book. These tales make an impact on the spirit and psyche.

The Whole books Idea: Basically whole books are the sum total of the books written by the author. If you come across a book written by an author you must take the effort in reading the whole book. The reverse of this would be the compilations that take account of only the bits and pieces from other works. This could perhaps include a part from Dickens, a combination of ideas from Tolstoy, etc.

The Idea of Narration: Narration basically is the course of action of repeating back what has been already been taught or read. Narrations are by and large done verbally. However, as the child matures and his writing abilities are enhanced, he could write down the narrations too. You could conduct narrations in an imaginative manner like playing a role, sketching, painting, sculpting etc.

The Idea of conducting Short lessons: Charlotte Mason suggested spending short, focused phases of time on an extensive assortment of subject matters. The lessons near the beginning years are only for 10-15 minutes. However they are gradually extended as the children get older. There are a few lessons for high school students that go nearer to an hour for every subject matter.

The Idea of Keeping a Journal: There is tremendous worth attached to maintaining a personal journal that flaunts confidence of expression and evocative writing. You can also document actions, feelings and thoughts, favorite proverbs, personal slogans, favorite poetry, etc.

The Idea of Copy work: Copy work on a daily basis presents constant practice for improving grammar, spellings, handwriting etc. You can maintain a note book for copying down writing styles, passages, etc.

The Idea of Dictation: Every day select a sentence or page, depending on the child age. Make the child practice his writing and try to make him do it flawlessly during his period of copy work. Make the child pay attention to all the punctuations, capital letters etc. When the child is familiar with the passage properly, dictate the passage to the child so that he can reconstruct the passage.

I am starting Joe Flacco this week, only because they are facing the Bungles, and Mason may have a big game. Many thanks!

diane hamments asked:

Masonic swords beautifully engraved or etched with one or more.

Masonic symbols and emblems hold great significance to members of the order of Freemasons (Masons). There are several different styles of Masonic swords, and

each style can use different colored metals such as silver, gold, brass and bronze to

form the blade, hilt, pommel and other parts of the sword. Each style of Masonic

Sword can also bear several different engraved Masonic symbols and emblems,

each symbol or emblem having its own significance in the Masonic world. Masonic swords often have colored inlays that also add to their visual appeal, and they are sometimes set with gems or jewels. Masonic daggers – shorter versions of Masonic swords with blades that are only 12 to 14 inches long – also exist, and these are also highly decorated with Masonic symbols such as the Compass and Square.

Masonic Swords are grounded in honor, history, and tradition:

Swords in general have traditionally and historically been viewed as instruments of might, justice, honor, integrity and truth. They have been used for thousands of years, not just as weapons, but also as symbolic instruments that indicate status. Because swords are so highly emblematic of so many different virtues, they are still worn for ceremonial purposes at various important events. Many of the values that swords symbolize are at the center of Freemasonry, and for this reason, Masons often wear Masonic swords during their ceremonies and rituals.

No one is certain about the specific origins of Freemasonry, but it is likely that the organization developed out of the stonemasons craft guilds that flourished during the Middle Ages. The Knights Templar, an organization of Christian knights that was formed during the Crusades to protect Christians during their pilgrimages to the Holy Land, probably had a large influence on early Masons. And that historical influence almost certainly continues even today. Swords are intimately associated with the purpose and history of the Knights Templar, and this association could very possibly be

another reason for the symbolic, ceremonial importance of Masonic swords in Masonic

rites, both past and present.

Masonic swords are beautiful, highly decorative and highly symbolic instruments that are worn by Masons during certain Freemason ceremonies and rituals. They are finely crafted symbols of pride in being a Mason and of their owners’ status within the organization. They are symbols of the dedication of all Masons to justice, honor, integrity and truth - all of which are keystone principles in Freemasonry. Masonic swords are visual symbols of their bearers’ level of achievement within Masonic society and structure, but they are much more than that. Masonic swords are symbols of Freemasonry’s tradition of working to make the world a better place, and their bright blades reflect honor, history and tradition.

Mason Bolton asked:

Learning Chess: Through Personal Development Training Pt 2

Knowing Who You Want To Be

By Mason Bolton III

Welcome back!

In our previous work, we constructed an inventory of your shortcomings as determined by how you feel about yourself. NOW, let us take a more expanded view of both you – AND of the person whom you want to be.

Phase 2 – Taking Inventory

OK. Listed very neatly on your inventory, is what lies between you and your goal of being a better chess player, (as based on an honest self appraisal).

The next step entails the development of two more lists.

The first list is a profile of what a solid chess player is - to you. What are their characteristics, strengths and – yes – their weaknesses – for even a master at chess has weaknesses. Sometimes, I wonder that the most distressing thing about being a top achiever – even a world leader with millions of loyal followers – is that at the bottom of it all – you are still human – and thereby still plagued by human weaknesses. But I digress.

Using the traits table from part 1 of this article – you will define your ideal chess player. That is - whom do you want to be when you grow up? Spell him out as completely as is possible and account for those things you admire about great chess players – and for those that you do not. If the table below does not completely meet your needs, add additional information as you require to complete your list.

This step really is the only way to obtain a comprehensive list of a chess player’s characteristics for you to take on. There is no one-size-fits-all chart that you can employ to nail down the “chess player personality”. The fact is that there are 45 million chess players in the United States alone – and ALL of them have different personalities.

Therefore, we don’t try to chase EVERYTHING that a chess player can be. Let us instead go after those elements of a chess player’s character which YOU have noted that you would like to instill in your own chess play. Just as you have your idea of a dream girl (or guy) you also have your own idea of a dream chess player. You are not attempting to become a particular chess player. Somebody already owns that identity. You are attempting to become the chess player that you want to be. This exercise will help you to determine what that chess player looks like.

Once you have that table ready – you will build your second profile. This one correlates your strengths and weaknesses to that of your ideal chess player. Use your self-honesty appraisal to note (with a check mark) those things that you feel that you and a great chess player have in common. Then, note in a separate list, the areas from your self appraisal where you feel that you fell short (having no check mark).

When you are done, you will have one list – with items that you know need fixing (as taken from Table 1) – and with items that you feel need fixing (from your own self-honesty appraisal). Both are equally important.

With that – we are now armed with the material required to build our wish list for building ourselves into the monster chess player that we want to be. By now, some of you are getting REALLY depressed about the work that you are being put to. If this be you, then there are two things that you should remember.

1. When these lists are made – 90% of the work will be done.

…and

2. You are building a plan - the most important part of any endeavor. Once you have a credible plan of action – you can, at least, anticipate success. Nothing is ever guaranteed to succeed – but embarking on a task without a plan is a sure-fire way to guarantee failure. So take heart. This is good work you are doing.

OK. Time to go to work! Use the inventory checklist from part 1 to help guide you through building the two profiles. Build your self-honesty assessment first, followed by your chess player’s personality profile. Compile them into one list of flaws that you need to fix as described above. Then let’s meet back here to build a task list.

Michael Porfirio Mason asked:

Impeccable Technique: Vegas Beyond Undefeated

“Far as lyrics go:

They rocking recitals

It won’t stop until I’m on top with the title

Hustling no stopping the cycle, I’m shopping for rifles

I’m not for the idols

Fuck the twin towers dog, we on top of the Eiffel

Like live Pisa Pisa, eating a piece of pizza

You cant be were I be dog, you need a visa

Come on cheeb of reefer

Please believe it, I will squeeze and leave ya

All bullets they will heat and seek ya

Harlem world I’m a swell my town

You a clown you can tell by now

That I’m, I’m ready, I’m ready we coming for the title”

-Excellent word play from Cam’ron on “I’m Ready” …..sick sample too.

People are always coming up and asking me, how do you go to Las Vegas and night after night swoop girls and stay Undefeated. Great question. Is it the textblasters and huge rolodex of beautiful girls? Sure. Thick Bankroll? Obviously. Great Genetics? Absolutely. A Playboy bloodline going back to the Original Don Juan in Spain? Bet your life on it.

Recently, I was reading some Las Vegas Player advice by some pseudo “g” and he was claiming he gets girls 50% of the time he is in Vegas. I am thinking to myself 50%? That’s a horrible success rate, especially in Vegas. If my success rate was that poor, I wouldn’t even expect you to read this. But you should read this because my success rate is over 100%. Beyond Undefeated. Beyond Undefeated is when you have swooped more girls than you have spent nights in a city. There are certain does and don’ts you must apply if you want to be successful. Here are some Impeccable Techniques:

Avoid Local Mystery Suite Parties

These sound good on Paper, especially when pitched to you by some 21 year old Maybelline Queen Exotic Dancer. She will tell you something like “lets go up to this suite party on the 56th floor of the Bellagio”. Yeah sounds good on paper. The reality is that you will have to mix with Local Vegas Guy (And I don’t mean Alain Ducasse’s Mix or Mix Lounge in THE HOTEL either). Avoid local Vegas guy at all costs. Especially local vegas promoter guy. These guys are really fronters, scumbags and losers. Although these guys front like they have connections in Vegas, they usually just know other low-end bottom feeder types. The reason why these guys are so bad, I think, (And I don’t give them much thought) is because Vegas is an expensive place, (for most, for me its cheap) champagne drinking limo riding and all that. Local Vegas Promoter guy has to compete with that every night or else he gets mopped up by tourist guy. And I am not a mathmetician but when local vegas promoter guy is pulling down $27,500 a year, the life style just doesn’t add up. Plus he has to go to the salon to get his hair styled and needs to buy tons of cool T-shirts with writing on them to keep up the “cool, party guy act”. And as we know, those 3rd World Sweatshop made T-shirt aren’t cheap. So what Vegas Guy has to do is cut corners. Rip people off. Not to mention a rampant drug problem. This is all a recipe for disaster. Personally, I am more interested in Galatoire’s recipe for Gumbo or Turtle Soup. It’s important to have a good Running Partner with you in these situations, that way you can kick up your Gucci Loafers, spark up a smoke with a vintage Dunhill lighter, finish off your Goose and Soda, and check the time with a Vintage 1960’s Breitling Watch (to see if your in the kill zone for Gentleman’s Clubs) while your Running Partner ads a couple of KO’s to his record “on the cobbles”.

Utilize the “Ultra-Lounges”

In Vegas they call Lounges “Ultra-Lounges”. If you ask me, it sounds pretty ***. Regardless, they are functional spots to use as early night meeting points. They are real easy to get into and are easy to find someone. Also a good place to get back up leads as fly girls usually are to be found in Ultra-Lounges.

Don’t get blinded by the Light (and I don’t mean Andrew Sasson’s Club Light either)

Avoid going to Gentlemans Club’s on Friday and Saturday Night at 11 or 12. Even when you are Untouchable like Eliot Ness. I know you got the Custom-Made suit on, hand made shoes from England, and got on the best tie in your collection. Your Bullet-proof, Hard to Kill like Steven Segal. Still, avoid the the Gentlemans club early. You Will get “Pole-Axed”, “Jelly-Fished” and/or “Blinded out”. You don’t have to be an expert in Econometric Modeling to know that Gentleman’s Clubs are all about supply and demand. When there are more girls than guys in Gentleman’s Clubs its all systems go. When there are more guys than girls in a Gentleman’s Club the system is clogged. But if your dressed sharp like a porcupine in a Custom Suit by Duncan Quinn with side vents, blood red shirt by Dior Homme with silver and black cufflinks, no tie, pocket square by Thom Browne, Custom shoes by John Lobb on St. James Street or Edward Green on Jermyn Street in exotic skins (refined decadence) you have a more than decent shot at it.

Oysters

We have mentioned this before. But don’t start any night in Vegas without Oysters. A good portfolio would be some Cotuit Oysters (Massachusetts), Netarts Bay (Oregon), and some Winterpoints (Maine). (Skip the Hamma Hamma Oysters (Washington) and the Kumamoto (Oregon), they ****.) Caviar and Florida Stone Crabs also make for a nice well rounded opening salvo. RM Mooney, Daniel Boulud’s Daniel, Alain Ducasse’s Mix, even Aquanox are all worth an early stop by.

Girls in Street Clothes

Want to pull Fly Girls out of a Gentleman’s Club in less time than it takes you to finish two Goose and Sodas? (And I drink fast). Here is how you do it: Target Girls in street clothes. They are already on their way out the spot, so half the battle is already won. Last time in Vegas I walked in (dressed impeccably of course) to a great Gentleman’s Club and 17 minutes later left with three Fly girls, destination: my suite at Wynn Resorts (in the girls defense, the spot was filled with Regular Guy, and I was wearing an Ridiculous suit by Paul Smith, my track record is flawless, and my skin had a healthy flush from the spa earlier in the day, so I could hardly blame them for wanting to leave with me). Not bad for a Wednesday night.

Side Note:

Avoid Girls with “Property of (insert Biker Gang)” Tattoos. Weather it be The Hells Angels, The Banditos, The Pagans, The Rock Machine (now merged with The Banditos), The Outlaws or The Henchmen. In fact, it’s better to avoid Gentleman’s Clubs with Biker Gangs in general. Unless of course you are trying to find distribution for a large quantity on Crystal Meth, in that case, you found the right guys. You don’t want to get in the Crossfire of a Gang War and find out how good you are at ducking wrenches. I remember one time years back in Los Angeles, I was with a local beautiful Hollywood, prototype SuicideGirl/ Nightlife Princess and the Motorcycle Club in attendance didn’t take too kindly to me. Not sure why. But I do know, if it wasn’t for my Desert Eag and a cab with perfect timing I might have not had a Magical Night.

James “Lights Out” Toney

Partying in Las Vegas, even with Entering The Dragon, will get you in pretty bad physical shape over a few day period. Don’t be Vain about it or let it get you down. James “Lights Out” Toney, became one of the Greatest Boxers of his Generation and he did it not by being in great shape. He has always said, “Boxing is not a Bodybuilding Competition” (you remember a “chubby” Tim Witherspoon knocking out the Adonis Frank Bruno for the Heavyweight title, right?). Well, “Las Vegas is not a Bodybuilding Competition either”. Vegas is a GAME competition. (Well, maybe that Rehab Sunday pool party at the Hard Rock is a Bodybuilding Competition, but I have never been. The last place I want to be in Vegas in the summer time is at the Hard Rock pool with a bunch of personal trainer Guys from Arizona with Tribal Tattoos.) James Toney made it happen by being Tough, having tons of Heart, an Iron Chin, superb Counter Punching, a will to win, and lets face it: Impeccable Technique. Be a James Toney.

The Vegas Dance

No this isn’t some dance like The BankHead Bounce, The Harlem Shake, The Young Joc Motorcycle Dance, The Patty Duke, the Wrench or the Tango. Or even dope Breakdance moves like The Turtle, The Baby, Top Rock, Brooklyn Flare, Freezes, Windmills, Suicides (And I don’t mean SuicideGirls either) Headspins or Crazy Legs ill backspin in “Beat Street”. If you are like me, come 3am in Vegas, you will have plenty of options for Girls. Especially, if you follow The Blueprint for a Perfect Night in Vegas. Hold out for your best option. The best part about Vegas is that you have more time if you need it. Behind on the Score Cards after Twelve Rounds? Well, the great thing in Vegas is there is a Round 13. Hell, in Vegas you have as many rounds as you need to win the fight! No need to get jumpy and call it a night with the Ex-Sorority Girl in town from Ohio for a Bachelorette party who gave you her number. Hold out for something with some punch to it. For instance:

Girl Plus Friend

This is one of the most important techniques to Being Beyond Undefeated. It is a high risk move. But without Risk there cannot be Reward. To be a Top G, Top Pedigree, you need to embrace Risk. That’s why I trade Futures instead of Options. Unlimited Downside, but Unlimited Upside potential as well. So you have been stick and moving all night like Zab Judah, and you got a Fly Girl meeting you back at the Parasol Up bar ready to Kostya Tszyu her. Tell her to bring a Girlfriend. Leverage your position. Dame Sizzler style. When you get back to your Suite, have an In-Room Gymnastics Competition. Remember to Score the Girls on difficulty, form, originality AND artistry. Make sure you get a couple of Nadia Comaneci’s……. The Rest is Up to You……..

Michael Porfirio Mason

AKA The Peoples Champ

AKA The Judge

The Guide to Getting More Out of Life

http://www.thegmanifesto.com

(Want to see something in The G Manifesto?
