No one can give you a definitive answer based on the information given. Best advice is to get several estimates, and this time, do your homework before you sign a contract. Check out the contractors references by looking at other jobs he has done and talk to the homeowners. Check them out with the Better Business Bureau and see if they have been reviewed and rated on AngiesList. Make sure they have been in business a reasonable length of time, don’t give anyone a large downpayment, and don’t write the final check until the job is done.

Make sure that they carry laibility insurance along with worker’s compensation. Make them furnish you with a Certificate of Insurance proving the coverage.

In the end, there is no substitute for doing the preliminary legwork before hiring a contractor.
